Overnight with other paddlers at the fabled, and reportedly haunted Execution Rocks Lighthouse this summer! We have a big day on the Sound Planned! Prime Paddlesports is excited to present paddlers with the opportunity of open water navigation, night navigation, route planning and selection, moving water skills and a super cool place to call home for the night! This special trip offers lots for an engaged paddler. We’ll meet and launch from Edith Read Nature Preserve in Rye, NY. Participants will plan and execute a crossing of the Long Island Sound bringing us to the North Shore of Long Island by mid-morning where paddlers will have the opportunity to practice moving water skills at Dosoris Island on the eddbing tide. The Group will make their way to The Cove restaurant in Sea Cliff for a late lunch before proceeding West to Execution Rocks and getting set up for the night. Once settled in at Execution Rocks, this trip offers opportunities for night navigation in a protected area of the sound, as well as practice of night marine vessel identification form, a fun way to sit back and take in the sweeping views upon the Rocks. A Communal Camp Style Paddlers Pot Luck Dinner and Breakfast will be served up by the participants who will all contribute towards these meals. The group will plot execute and lead a return trip back to Rye, NY on Sunday Morning, with a focus on effective route planning using the environment which may include another afternoon of play on moving water. We aim to be off the water by 2:00 PM in Rye on Sunday afternoon. Participants will have shared rooms and sleeping spaces, no private rooms are available for this group booking of the Island. Participants will be required to bring sleeping gear for themselves.
